NEW PROGRAM – I. William Schimmel & Blanche I. Schimmel Law Student Loan Fund
2007 continues to be an exciting year for new programs at JFLA. Thanks to a generous gift from the Desser and Schimmel Families, the I. William Schimmel & Blanche I. Schimmel Law Student Loan Fund can now help JFLA address the rising costs of higher education by offering annual interest-free loans of up to $3,000 to local Jewish students pursuing law degrees at universities throughout the world. This fund adds to the ten thriving student loan programs JFLA currently offers to meet various community needs. If you or someone you know is in need of a loan for education, please contact Jordan Gill at (323)761-8830 x109 or jordan@jfla.org.

THANK YOU JFLA
“JFLA provided a financial balm that prevented our break and aided my family’s ability to provide comfort and care to my terminally ill husband. Thank you doesn’t seem enough…and yet I am eternally thankful for your being there.”

“For me, my loan embodied the spirit of the Jewish community, and all it stands for: the importance of education, standing by fellow Jews under all circumstances, providing opportunities for Jews and non-Jews alike that otherwise would not have been possible. This has meant so much to me. JFLA was a special connection for me. I have also never had more genuine, friendly customer service anywhere. Thank you."

-Home Healthcare & Student Loan Recipients

According to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services: “California ranks 49th nationally in the number of registered nurses per capita…If the current workforce crisis is not addressed…the shortage is projected to grow by 29% by 2020.”

To address this impending community crisis, JFLA has created the Brandman Foundation Loan Fund for Nursing Students, providing interest-free loans of up to $5,000 on a non-sectarian basis to help finance nursing student education.

Join the ranks of our distinguished family of donors by supporting the education of the future nurses of Greater Los Angeles. It will make a world of difference to everyone in our community.
