SILBERT-GOLDMAN WOMEN & CHILDREN IN CRISIS LOAN FUND
For nearly ten years, JFLA has provided critical assistance to women and their children who are leaving abusive situations. Last year, with the generous support of the Silbert-Goldman family, the fund expanded to assist more women and children in need. Interest-free loans assist women with job training, childcare, rent, furniture, car repairs and other important steps toward establishing a safe and independent future. Over the past year, the Silbert-Goldman Women & Children in Crisis Loan Fund has enabled over thirty women and their children to lead more fulfilling lives in a safer environment. If you or someone you know is leaving an abusive situation and in need of a loan, please contact 323-761-8830 or info@jfla.org.
JFLA E-AUCTION WRAP UP
JFLA’s Annual Online Auction held earlier this month was a tremendous success. The auction featured artwork, sporting event tickets, hotel stays, salon services, an espresso machine, designer jewelry and much more. A special thank you to all those who participated, particularly Estee Copans, the e-auction co-chair and her committee. The auction raised over $9,000 and provided wonderful exposure for JFLA. Please consider contributing items such as sporting event tickets, concert tickets, collector’s items and vacation rentals to next year’s e-auction. Contributions are tax-deductible. For information about participating in the JFLA e-auction, email info@jfla.org.
TORAH & BEER II
Genesis, JFLA’s young professionals group, held its second Torah & Beer event on June 7th at a private home in Beverlywood. Over 40 young professionals attended the event, which featured an enlightening Torah study led by Rabbi Ed Feinstein of Valley Beth Shalom. Through networking and a brief introduction by the event co-chairs, Lee Mendelson and Nick Merkin, event attendees learned more about JFLA’s mission and loan programs. For more information about Genesis, please contact genesis@jfla.org.
