LOAN FUND FOR FAMILIES OF CHILDREN WITH SPECIAL NEEDS
With the school year just weeks away, many families are anticipating another year of financial difficulties while providing their special needs children with durable medical equipment, behavioral and educational supports, shadows and therapies. To address this critical community need, JFLA recently expanded its non-sectarian Loan Fund for Families of Children with Special Needs through three cornerstone grants from The Weingart Foundation, The Ziegler Foundation and The Weinberg Foundation. Since the recent expansion of the program, JFLA has provided over $50,000 in interest-free loans to help pay for evaluation, care and/or treatment of special needs children. Last year, JFLA became an active partner in collaboration with Jewish Family Service of Los Angeles, The Jewish Federation Council of Greater Los Angeles and several other Jewish agencies, in Ha-Mercaz, a central resource connecting parents with special needs children to various resources and services they need. For more information about Ha-Mercaz, please visit www.jewishla.org/specialneeds. JFLA is also in collaboration with other community agencies that serve as referral sources, including Los Angeles Families for Effective Autism Treatment (LA FEAT), the local chapter of United Cerebral Palsy and Talking about Curing Autism (TACA). If you or someone you know is in need of a loan to care for a special needs child, please contact (323)761-8830 or info@jfla.org.

FREE LOAN FACTS
Since July 1st, JFLA has distributed over $650,000 in interest-free loans for housing, transportation, women and their children seeking a safer living environment, undergraduate and graduate education, small business start-up costs and small expenses associated with a first-time home purchase. This adds to the more than $6.5 million in outstanding loans currently circulating throughout the community.
