GALA AWARDS DINNER

On June 4th, JFLA held its Inaugural Gala Awards Dinner, "JFLA Celebrates...An Evening of Visionaries" at the Four Seasons Hotel in Los Angeles. The event celebrated JFLA’s 104 years of service to the community and featured the following prominent award recipients: Ruth B. Ziegler, Saul Brandman*, Molly Forrest and Stephen Elkind. Guests at the sold-out event enjoyed video presentations about each award recipient, a performance by a virtuoso violinist, a new JFLA promotional video and a special running feed of the event’s Tribute DVD. Loan Recipients

JFLA is proud to offer two loan programs to assist individuals and families with the purchase of their first home in the Los Angeles area. The American Dream Loan Fund, established through a grant from Countrywide, Ameriquest and The Jewish Federation, assists recent emigres of all faiths with the purchase of their first home in the United States. Established with a grant from the Jewish Community Foundation, the First-time Homebuyers Loan Fund for Day School Teachers offers interest-free loans to Jewish day school teachers and faculty throughout Southern California to help ease the financial burden of a first-time home purchase. Both funds provide interest-free loans of up to $15,000 for closing costs, basic home improvements and moving expenses. To date, over $250,000 has been distributed to individuals and families purchasing their first-time home in the Greater Los Angeles area. STAGGERING STATS...

Last month, JFLA distributed 115 loans, totaling more than $360,000. This represents an increase of more than 25% over the same period last year. Loans for nursing students, families of children with special needs, Israel programs, and Jewish continuity increased by 50%.
