NEW PROGRAMS

JFLA is proud to announce the creation of two new loan programs. The Abby Sher Loan Fund for Life Cycle Events provides interest-free loans on a non-sectarian basis for brit milot, bar/bat mitzvahs, weddings and funerals. Loans from this fund average $4,000, with payments established on an individual basis.

The Max Factor Family Foundation Loan Fund for Students of Public Health offers interest-free loans to local students of all faiths in public health degree programs. This fund provides loans averaging $3,000 with reduced payments while students are in school. If you or someone you know is in need of a loan, please contact (323)761-8830 or info@jfla.org.

 MEET OUR LAY LEADERS

The Shane family has a long history of involvement in the community. Paul Shane has been Treasurer and Executive Committee member of JFLA for almost ten years.  Paul's father, Herb was a Past President of JFLA. Paul is a CPA in Westlake Village and has practiced there for over 37 years. He specializes in the areas of tax compliance, estates and trusts, elder issues, retirement plans and real estate, and is a professional conservator and trustee.  He is also a master swimmer and competes on the international level.  He serves on the boards of the President's Club of Vista Del Mar, USC Physically Challenged Athletes Scholarship Fund, and Senior Concerns in Thousand Oaks. Paul's wife Mary Jo is a professor in the graduate school of business at California Lutheran University in Thousand Oaks.  They have two sons and three grandchildren.
