JFLA is thrilled to announce a recent $150,000 grant from the Jewish Community Foundation of Los Angeles for emergency loans to local Jewish residents for basic needs such as food, housing, monthly mortgage payments, transportation, and medical or dental expenses. This grant is part of a coordinated five-agency collaboration called the Jewish Family Relief Network, which was created in direct response to the current economic crisis. JFLA’s young professionals group, GENesis, presents Torah & Beer V, featuring debate and discussion of “Beyond Tikkun Olam: Social Justice in Jewish Law and Rabbinic Tradition” with Dr. Adam Rubin, Professor of Jewish History. GALA AWARDS DINNER |

On May 6th, JFLA held its 2009 Gala Awards Dinner, "JFLA Celebrates... An Evening of Inspiration" at the Beverly Hills Hotel. The event celebrated JFLA’s 105 years of interest-free lending, and featured the following distinguished award recipients: Marilyn Ziering, Joyce & Stanley Black, Vivian Seigel and Carole Kracer. Guests at the event enjoyed video presentations about each award recipient, a performance by the Nick Rosen Trio, a new JFLA promotional video and a special running feed of the event’s Tribute DVD.
