EXCITING GRANT UPDATES!

JFLA is thrilled to announce the receipt of two generous grants. The Righteous Persons Foundation recently awarded JFLA with $50,000 in support of our Emergency Loan Fund. Interest-free loans of up to $3,000 are available to Los Angeles county area residents of all faiths for rent, mortgage payment, car repair or used car purchase, medical or dental expenses, and other basic needs. These important funds enable JFLA to continue offering critical assistance to clients facing financial challenges. The Weingart Foundation’s $130,000 core support grant allows JFLA to meet the increasing community demand for assistance during the current financial crisis.  STUDENT LOANS

We are now in the midst of a very busy student loan season. Interest-free loans averaging $3,000 are available to local full-time students of all faiths pursuing undergraduate or graduate degrees, associate degrees or technical, vocational or trade certifications. MEET OUR LAY LEADERS

Aaron Bloom joined JFLA's Board of Directors in 2007, and he is an active member of JFLA's Loan Committee. He is a litigation attorney at Greenberg Glusker in Century City, specializing in real estate, entertainment and business litigation, and is an expert in the areas of electronic discovery, landlord-tenant law and the enforcement of judgments. He serves on the Board of Directors of the Housing Rights Center and the executive committee of Love Honor Cherish. He also dedicates many hours to pro bono work. Aaron received his Bachelor's Degree from U.C. Davis and his Juris Doctorate from the University of Pennsylvania School of Law. Aaron's wife, Irith, is a professional dog trainer. They will celebrate their ninth anniversary this December. Aaron enjoys traveling, wine, basketball and martial arts.
