FOR FAMILIES OF CHILDREN with
AUTISM & SPECIAL NEEDS |
 With the school year approaching, many families are facing financial hardship while providing evaluation, therapies and treatment for their children with special needs. The Ruth B. Ziegler Loan Fund for Families of Children with Autism and Special Needs continues to meet this community need by providing interest-free loans of up to $10,000 to local families of all faiths to defray the costs of treating children with autism or other developmental disabilities.

JFLA DIRECTOR OF MAJOR GIFTS RECEIVES FUNDRAISING AWARD |
 On Tuesday, June 9th, JFLA’s Director of Major Gifts, Elliot Friedland, received the Excellence in Fundraising Award at the Jewish Communal Professionals of Southern California (JCPSC) annual gala. One of nine awardees during the evening, Elliot was nominated by JFLA CEO Mark Meltzer for his expertise in securing major contributions and helping to establish a host of new loan funds for the agency since he joined the staff in 2003. On behalf of the entire JFLA board and staff, we congratulate Elliot on this wonderful honor!

GALA AWARDS DINNER |
|
 On May 26th, JFLA held its third annual Gala Awards Dinner at the Beverly Hills Hotel. The event celebrated JFLA’s 106 years of interest-free lending and featured five distinguished award recipients: Herbert* & Dr. Louise Horvitz, Aron Abecassis, Allan Marion and Mark Meltzer (Celebrating 30 years as JFLA CEO). Guest speaker Ed Begley, Jr., actor and environmentalist, spoke about his belief in the agency’s mission and the importance of JFLA’s newest program, the Green Loan Fund, providing interest-free loans for environmental upgrades. Guests at the event also enjoyed video presentations about each award recipient; a performance by virtuoso violinist Sam Fischer; a new JFLA promotional video; and a special running feed of the event's Tribute DVD.
