Nancy and Victor Snider
We are grateful to our generous supporters who take their commitment to education and schooling seriously.
In 2007, Nancy and Victor Snider established the Nancy & Victor Snider Educational Loan Fund, which allows JFLA to offer education funds to students of all faiths.
The Feit Family
After their twins Kara and Zachary were born in 2012, Alan & Emily Feit knew it was time to fulfill a promise they had made to themselves: if they ever succeeded in having children after a difficult struggle with infertility, they would do everything in their power to help families dealing with the same issues.
The creation of the Feit 4 Kidz Fertility Loan Fund, established with a generous cornerstone gift from the Feits, has given JFLA the ability to loan couples in Los Angeles thousands of dollars for in vitro fertilization treatments.
Sue & Edward Meltzer
Sue and Edward (Eddie) Meltzer have been active supporters of JFLA for decades. They are co-founders of the Kopelove Home Healthcare Loan Fund with Sue’s sister and brother-in-law, Ruth Lynn Sobel and her husband, Hank. Since the inception of the Kopelove Home Healthcare Loan Fund, 349 loans have been made totaling $1,796,468.
Sue was active in JFLA’s 21 Club and Sue and Eddie have continued to support the Edward Meltzer Student Loan Fund established in 1987 by Marilyn & Philip Meltzer, Mrs. Edward Meltzer, Sr. (Frieda) and Sylvia Weisz.
Since the establishment of the Edward Meltzer Student Loan Fund in 1987, JFLA has made more than $25,000,000 in interest-free student loans.
James and Sandra Kohn
Jim grew up in Milwaukee. He moved to Los Angeles after graduating from Harvard College and Harvard Law School and has practiced law for many years, specializing in real estate and business matters as well as business litigation.
His commitment to JFLA has been demonstrated by service on the JFLA Board for more than 35 years and two terms as JFLA President for a total of six years. His interests include golf, travel, Irish studies and collecting German Expressionist art. He considers himself very fortunate for his family: wife Sandra; son Jeffrey and his wife Elise; daughter Abby and her husband Jason; and four terrific grandchildren.
A committed philanthropist and community activist, JFLA is proud to call Abby Sher a member of our family.
Five years ago, Abby helped establish the Abby Sher Loan Fund for Life Cycle Events, which allows JFLA to make loans on a non-sectarian basis for brises, bar or bat mitzvahs, weddings, and funerals.
Elyse Pollack may be young, but she is committed and passionate about the causes she believes in.
For her Bat Mitzvah project in early 2013, Elyse solicited her family and friends, eventually raising more than $5,000 for JFLA’s Student Loan Fund.
JFLA Loan Committee
Every Thursday afternoon, members of the Loan Committee meet at the JFLA offices to go over the week’s total loans, review client requests, and sign loan checks.
Vice-Presidents Harold Tomin, Aaron Bloom and Erwin Diller are some of JFLA’s most valued friends, always working towards making sure JFLA is the very best it can be.
