Eviction Moratorium to End September 30. 25% of Unpaid Rent May Be Due

Los Angeles County’s eviction moratorium is set to expire on September 30, 2021. Although the moratorium protects renters in LA County from being evicted, it doesn’t necessarily mean you don’t have to pay any of your back rent. With just a few weeks remaining until September 30, here is what you need to know about unpaid rent balances.
Unless a renter is eligible and has applied for a city or state sponsored rent relief program, renters are required to pay at least 25% of any unpaid rent incurred from March 4, 2020 to September 30, 2021 by September 30, 2021. This can be paid either monthly or in a lump sum. If you’re in this situation and are wondering how you are going afford to pay your rent, JFLA offers emergency rent loans that can help.
0% Interest Loans Available To Help Renters
Unlike other loan options that might be available, JFLA’s loans have no interest, no fees of any kind, and manageable monthly payments. We can do this because we are a nonprofit organization whose mission is to support those in need with interest free loans.
Since JFLA was established in 1904 we have helped thousands of people with emergency loans for rent. We’ve helped people like Laura, a single mother of five who works as a bus driver. Recently, Laura’s hours were cut and she and two of her children were diagnosed with COVID-19, leaving her unable to work and unable to make her rent payments. JFLA gave Laura an interest-free loan that allowed her to pay her rent and living expenses while she recovered from COVID. We are happy to report that since receiving the loan, Laura has fully recovered and is back at work. Her children are now also healthy and well. She is thankful for JFLA’s help during a tough time for her family.
If you need an emergency rent loan, JFLA offers 0% interest loans up to $15,000 (with two guarantors) to all residents of Los Angeles, Ventura and Santa Barbara Counties. Click here to learn more about JFLA’s 0% interest loans for rent and see how we can help.
