Thirteen Years Later: The Heart Behind Feit 4 KidZ

It’s been 13 years since Alan and I started Feit 4 KidZ, and when I look back, I’m overwhelmed by how much has happened.
The truth is, Feit 4 KidZ was born from one of the hardest chapters of our lives.
After seven rounds of IVF, we were emotionally depleted. Every failed cycle, every negative pregnancy test, chipped away at us. Infertility has a way of taking over your life until you barely recognize yourself outside of the process. We wanted so desperately to become parents, and after years of setbacks, we were exhausted.
The night before our final embryo transfer, Alan made a promise. He told G-d that if we were lucky enough to have children, we would give back every dollar we had spent on IVF to help other families trying to build theirs.
That promise became Feit 4 KidZ.
When we first partnered with JFLA and met Executive Director, Rachel Grose, it was simply an idea rooted in our own experience and a desire to ease the financial burden for others facing infertility. Rachel immediately believed in the vision, and together we launched a program that has helped countless families access fertility treatments and family-building options.
Even now, infertility is something I carry with me. While I’m no longer living it day to day, it never fully leaves your heart. It shaped who I am and created a bond with people who are still in the middle of their journey—still hoping, waiting, and wondering if their dream of becoming parents will come true.
Over the years, one of the greatest gifts has been hearing stories from people touched by the program. Sometimes someone recognizes our last name and asks, “Are you the family behind the loan fund?” Other times, I learn that a friend, neighbor, or coworker received support through Feit 4 KidZ. Those moments remind me that what started as a promise made in pain has reached far beyond anything we imagined.
Last year, I published my first picture book, Before We Held You in Our Arms. The story is deeply personal and reflects much of our own journey. I wanted my children to know that every moment of fear, uncertainty, waiting, and heartbreak was worth it because it led us to them. While parts of the journey were incredibly difficult, we would do it all over again to become their parents.
Today, Kara and Zach are preparing for high school after celebrating their B’nai Mitzvah together last year, and Levi is thriving in his own energetic, adventurous way. Watching them grow often takes me back to a time when I wasn't sure I would ever experience these milestones.
As we recognize International Infertility Month, I feel immense gratitude—not only for the family we were blessed to build, but for the community that has grown around Feit 4 KidZ.
What began as a promise between two heartbroken people became something much bigger. More than financial assistance, Feit 4 KidZ has become a way to help people feel seen, understood, and less alone.
