Yehudis

My name is Yehudis Tombosky, and I am deeply grateful to the administrators and donors of JFLA for the support that made a meaningful difference in my life.
I reached out to JFLA a few months after October 7, as I began pursuing my Master of Social Work degree at Wurzweiler School of Social Work. Inspired by the events unfolding in Israel, I felt called to help in any way I could. As the first person in my family to pursue higher education, something we never thought would be possible, I needed assistance covering my tuition.
That first year was far from the calm beginning I had envisioned. My now-fiancé spent much of the past two years in and out of reserve duty, while I was building a career in trauma-informed clinical work and, at the same time, living through the very experiences I was studying. JFLA's interest-free loan meant my education wasn't one more thing I had to fight for. That stability allowed me to fully commit to my field placements, working directly with at-risk teens in Israel who were carrying the weight of war.
This milestone would not have been possible without the generosity of JFLA. Their support allowed me to focus on my studies and step into clinical work with stability and confidence, knowing I never had to do it alone.
Thank you for investing in students like me and for turning what once felt impossible into a reality.
